* [DÜRER, Albrecht]. Passio unser Herren Jesu Christi auss den vier Evangelisten gezogen, mit Schonen Kunstreichen Figuren. Ca mid-16th century.
8vo. Manuscript on 26 ll. of vellum, written in red and black in a mid-16th century German formal hand with calligraphic flourishes, each page surrounded with a red and gold border, including 17 engravings from Dürer's Little Passion series, all trimmed close and laid down within red and gilt borders, hand-colored by a contemporary hand. (Small segments of a few borders wanting, title leaf slightly fading, some minor soiling.) Contemporary black calf, wide gilt foliate border, central gilt panel with flower cornerpieces, spine in 4 compartments with 3 wide bands gilt, pastepaper endpapers (some light overall wear). Provenance: Evelyn Philip Shirley (1812-1882) British Politician (bookplate, signature in Latin, sold Sotheby's London, 28 April 1947, lot 286); Beatriz (signature, Buenos Aires, 1947).
