MACCHIARINI: A MIXED-METAL AND SODALITE BROOCH Of an abstract and geometric design featuring a round sodalite cabochon, signed P. Macchiarini, measures 4 3/4 x 2 in. Footnotes: Literature: Illustrated in: Marbeth Schon, Form & Function, American Modernist Jewelry, 1940-1970, page 239 Peter Macchiarini established the Macchiarini studio in San Francisco in 1948 after studying sculpture and architecture in Italy. In collaboration with his son, Daniel Macchiarini, and granddaughter, Emma Macchiarini, the studio is the oldest established mixed-metal practice in the United States. As the family continues to explore shape and form using varying materials, a school for metalsmithing and design was established in connection to the studio and gallery in the North Beach neighborhood of San Francisco by Emma in 2015.
