Description
A pair of symmetrical antique Japanese Meiji period lobed enamel over brass vases. Each vase has an amphora shaped body and a narrow neck. Each vase is enameled with a polychrome image of butterflies in blossoming flowers surrounded by foliage, geometrical, and swirl motifs made in the Cloisonne technique on black ground. The necks are decorated with a foliage ornament made in the same technique. The bases are inlaid with a Goldstone. Both are marked with an impressed stamp, on the bottom.
