Description
**First Time At Auction**
Native American, United States, Paleo-Indian Period, ca. 13000 to 8000 BCE (15,000 to 10,000 BP); Archaic to Woodlands period, ca. 5000 BCE to 1000 CE. An assorted collection of Native American projectile points, including Clovis and Folsom points, and 2 pendants with drilled holes. The Folsom blade is excurvate with parallel sides and a widest part formed at the top third and a flattened fluting from base nearly to tip on both faces, and the clovis is similar but unfluted. The rest of the points are a great variety of sizes and types made from chert and quartzite. The smallest are known as "bird points" so named for their miniature scale, although experimental archaeology has shown that they could easily have been used for hunting large game like deer - since birds were much easier to capture with nets. Size of largest: 1.8" L x 1" W (4.6 cm x 2.5 cm); case: 12.125" L x 8.125" W (30.8 cm x 20.6 cm)
